skin care stuff

For itsjustcarrie and anyone else who gives a fuck about such things.

I give many fucks. Skin care is my obsession.

So here’s my routine, more or less:

I wash my face with Cetaphil cleanser. It isn’t usually enough to get my eye make-up completely off, so I use Emu Oil and Neutrogena or Olay wipes to help with that.

Morning routine: I mix it up from time to time, but here is my current routine: a serum (usually Olay Regenerist or Lancome Advanced Genifique (expensive!!), followed by Garnier Dark Spot Corrector SPF 28. I mix one drop of Emu oil into the moisturizer and then apply. Emu oil is amazing and has many benefits, such as skin thickening. I use the Koru Naturals brand, which I buy on Amazon. Depending upon what I’m doing that day, I may apply a layer of Neutrogena Clear Face SPF 50.

Evening: After washing my face, I apply Peter Thomas Roth Professional Strength 3% Retinoid serum. I wait for that to absorb and then follow up with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cream, which contains hyaluronic acid and is extremely moisturizing.

The PTR Retinoid is very strong stuff (and crazy expensive), so I recommend starting out with Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair to get your skin used to retinol. But retinol is seriously the best thing you can do for aging skin.

Once or twice a week, I use Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Peel Pads, which is a 20% glycolic peel. This stuff is strong, so use it cautiously and start out for like one minute at a time. In fact, you may want to start out with a 10% peel and work your way up.  I’m currently working my way up to 30%.  Some people say not to use retinol a few days before and after a peel. I have done it without negative results, but my skin has grown accustomed to these products. I would be cautious just starting out.
