what’s going on?

Not much, honestly.

Things are good. Life is pleasantly boring – no drama or health issues going on. *knocks on wood*

On our walk last night, D and I were joking about what an old married couple we are now: we were very excited that our second trash can was delivered yesterday. Lol. Now we can throw shit out with abandon. I know, I know…hahahaha. But seriously – thank god!

In health related news, getting back on Tamoxifen hasn’t been too bad (should I knock on more wood?) so far. The hot flashes have ramped up, but otherwise…so far, so good. I feel like I’m finally in a decent place healthwise, which always scares me. I’m always waiting on the other shoe to drop, ya know? A-N-X-I-E-T-Y.

I’m excited to see our kids tonight. We haven’t seen Jackson since Monday morning, and I can’t even remember the last time we saw Freya. I think it has been a week. We get them tonight, but then not again until Monday night. Yep…divorce sucks. Though we will be getting Freya for like ten days in a row when her mom travels later this month, so yay for that. I already have some stuff planned for us. For example, we need to go see It. That’s on my list. And shopping, of course. She’s a good shopping buddy.

Oh and the next custody weekend (not this weekend, but next weekend) is going to be really fun. We are taking the kids to see Blink-182, and then to the Ren Faire on Sunday. I’m really looking forward to it.

We are planning a winter vacation to offset SAD issues. We’ve decided on a cruise. Just trying to find the right one. D has never cruised before, but I did once back in like 2007, and I really enjoyed it. We’ve decided on Royal Caribbean, but I’m open to suggestions if any of you are big time cruise people. Different cruise line? A particular ship? Hit me up.

We figure we will do a 7-ish night Caribbean cruise and then come home and throw the SAD party. That should help a lot with the winter blahs.

The holiday has really fucked up my sense of time. I thought yesterday was Monday, and so now I feel like today is Tuesday. What’s even weirder is tomorrow is kind of my Friday, because I have an all day webinar on Friday so I’m not coming into the office.

Oh and for some reason traffic has been horrendous this week. I’m not sure what that’s about, but D has noticed it too.

I’ve seen some blogging recently that has me worried that my own blog is as annoying as all that, and that I’m a fucking trainwreck just like these other two. It’s actually worried me enough that I find myself posting less. Oh and also because I’m just kind of boring, tbh.

  1. On the cruise-front, I’ve always been torn. I mean, I desperately want to wander about a 20s-30s Atlantic Ocean Liner… or even a Nile riverboat… you know, some place where a quirky detective will solve the murder in the locked stateroom.

That said, I hate the notion of being trapped in a floating bad hotel with a few hundred folks I discover I can’t stand… and you know, the chance of terrible toilet stories and such that show up in the news a couple of times a year. Unfortunately, you can’t really trust most folks with recommendations because folks I love travel very differently than I do. There are like 3 people I travel well with, so when my uncle tells me about the most amazing cruise I take that with a bag of salt.

That said, a traveller I trust – though to be fair I’ve never traveled with him, but he shares a lot of my peeves- was big on seabourn.com. They are a luxury cruise line so they are a bit more expensive but they aren’t the “Hey honey, did you see that chocolate fountain!?” crowd – not there’s anything wrong with that, of course. Anyway, I’ve got no personal experience with it, but if I were to do one, I would go higher end if possible. Seabourn for particular voyages (they start at 7 day I think and go up), or I think Cannard might do trans-atlantic, which is a thing on my bucket list. FWIW.
