  1. I used to teach college. Had maybe 150-160 students per semester. I regularly didn’t know everyone’s name and I think most folks understood that. What was weird was that every single semester there were at least 5 students who (doing the final paper/exam) didn’t know my name at the end of the term. It was on the syllabus. The board – every day. Their registration. The assignment they were responding to. And somehow at the end of the term there were always a crew that had no idea my name and weren’t really even alarmed at that.

    Oddly enough, there was the strangest correlation between that and failure rate. I mean, not causation… but a striking correlation.
