If you love cilantro and jalapeño then you absolutely need this in your life. It’s off the charts good. The flavor is bold and fresh. So fucking delicious. I’ve been using it as veggie dip, steak sauce, and sandwich spread. I’m absolutely obsessed.

This bbq sauce is also fantastic. Great flavor and a spicy kick.


After chemo, we grabbed lunch at Cafe Bistro and it was delicious. I had the cilantro lime shrimp salad and the crab bisque. Omg the bisque was absolutely divine! D and I are supposed to go to Nordstrom this weekend so maybe we’ll grab lunch while we’re there.

The soup had a better presentation than this, but I started eating it like immediately. Lol.

KC tells me they have a cookbook so I need to look into that asap because I need more of this soup in my life. Ooh maybe I can find it on Pinterest!

Hipster dinner

Our friends own a restaurant and invited us to a special Chef’s choice dinner.

The food was fantastic.

D and I joked that the venue and concept were such that it was like being in an episode of Portlandia. Our friends confirmed that they could in fact find out the name of the chicken we were eating if we so desired.


Blog challenge, Day 21 – My top ten favorite foods

  1. Ribeye steak. Medium rare. With cajun rub and/or blue cheese butter.
  2. Buffalo wings. The spicier the better.
  3. Cheese. Especially: goat cheese, blue cheese, and extra sharp cheddar.
  4. Cake. Except angel food cake. Ugh.
  5. Cookies.
  6. A steak or carnitas burrito from Chipotle with cheese, white cilantro rice, hot salsa, and extra sour cream.
  7. Tacos.
  8. Potatoes. Especially loaded & baked, au gratin, and french fries.
  9. Pizza. My favorite is from Faraci (stl style, baby).
  10. Sushi – especially rolls with spicy tuna.

I’m hungry now.

In other news, tomorrow morning is weigh in day. It was supposed to be today, but I only just got around to changing the batteries in my scale. Regardless of what it says, I’m not letting anything get me down tomorrow. Tomorrow is a very important and fabulous day. More on that later. 

sick day

I feel very blah, so I’m staying in bed until it is time to get my kid from school this afternoon. Fuck it. I deserve a bed day. 

It’s pretty cozy in here with my mountain of pillows, super soft, warm blankets, Macbook Air, Kindle, and the meowingest cat of all time cuddling me. 

I suppose I’ll crawl out of bed for food eventually, but really only because I’m currently addicted to hummus. Sabra Supremely Spicy Hummus may be the greatest thing I have ever put in my mouth. 

Okay, okay. That may be a bit of an aggressive statement.  I can think of at least one other thing I’d rather have in my mouth. <3

  • I want to be in a hot spring in Iceland.
  • I’m so very tired. 
  • My knee is fucked.  Arthritis flare up. That’s prob why I’m so tired.
  • I met the cutest little old couple today at the Jeff co office.  I kind of love them now. They made me laugh.  The old guy was like, “Tell Scott I said hi. He and I are tight.” Adorable.  It’s refreshing to meet the good ones. The good ones keep me going.
  • I’ve been ridiculously stressed this last week. I can’t even write it down. It’s just too much.
  • Been listening to The Bones Of What You Believe over and over and over. *IT’S SO GOOD*
  • I bought a new blanket for my bed and I love it. I may just stay here for a while. I have my bed, wine, and my laptop. What else do I really need?
  • My boyfriend. I need him here, too.  And maybe a cupcake or three.
  • For dinner, I ate 840 calories worth of feta & caramelized onion tarts. No regrets.  I love Trader Joe’s.
  • Oh and also pork bao. I fucking love that shit. You can also get that at TJ’s.
  • The bf and I have been watching True Detective. I can’t figure out if I’m into it or not. I’m going to finish it b/c I feel like I should.  But GoT has been so awesome this season. The last episode was amazing, and I think I’m going to re-watch it.  I’m super excited about OITNB season 2. It’s almost time!
  • It’s time to get hardcore about working out. I want to get into better shape.  I plan on doing some yoga tomorrow morning, along with squats, planks, and abdominal work. I’m going to keep track of my progress with pics, and keep using My Fitness Pal (I love that app so much).   I may post the before pic here if I’m brave enough.
  • Why am I still awake?

while the boyfriends are away, the besties will play

Mine is in Scotland. Her’s is in Arkansas.  This left us with plenty of free time to do the following:

  1. Eat lunch at Sugarfire. So. Much. Yum.
  2. We finally got our matching bff tattoos. (This was something we discussed back in the chemo lounge, so it was exciting to finally get it done.)  We each got a pink heart.
  3. Parenthood marathon. She’s been telling me to check it out for months now. I finally went for it. I love it so far.
  4. Yummy mexican food and sangria at Gringo.
  5. The Cup.  Their cupcakes are the best. Totally worth the calories.
  6.  We watched The Conjuring, which she hadn’t seen. I love that she will watch horror movies with me. <3
  7. Then she told me she had never seen It’s Always Sunny and I was like, “Um…wtf?” so we fixed that.

I love bestie bonding time.
