1. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms!!
  2. I have eaten a ridiculous amount of food today, and I’m not even close to being done. The bf made me breakfast. The kiddo and I had a yummy burrito for lunch. I went to the store and bought all kinds of goodies for today, including macarons (yum), and tonight the bf is coming over and grilling steak for dinner. Tomorrow I’m going into diet & exercise mode. I’m expanding at an alarming rate.
  3. My inspiration for diet/exercise mode? We booked our trip to Punta Cana this morning!!! We will be spending a week at an all inclusive (adults only!) resort in a fancy suite with our very own plunge pool. And now I will begin counting down the days until September.
  4. Three mother’s days ago, I split up with my husband. That probably explains his mopey attitude earlier when I picked up Jackson. It’s unfortunate to have that sort of taint attached to this day, but every year it gets a little easier.
  5. Timehop tells me that 2 years ago today I found out that I was cancer free. Fuck yeah.
  6. The bf is going to hang my new bedroom curtains for me tonight and I am super excited. When did I get so old and lame? But seriously it is going to be awesome b/c right now a bright security light shines directly into my room all night. These are special light blocking curtains, so I’m hoping I’m about to start sleeping a lot better.
  7. Game of Thrones tonight. The perfect way to end the day.

The Mother’s Day tea party was amazing. The kids had singing and dancing routines prepared. Each child gave a short speech about why their mother is special. They presented us with homemade gifts and an “All About Mom” book. It was just ridiculously adorable.

Sunday Seven: Mother’s Day Edition

  1. I just ordered a new pair of glasses. Mine are two years old, so I figured it’s time for a change. I ordered these from Warby Parker. I can’t wait for them to get here.
  2. After all that bitching I did about how I wanted to wear a bra, I wore one for a couple of days and then I was like: Um…this fucking sucks.  So now I’m not wearing one, and it’s awesome.  Silicone has its advantages.
  3. Last night was the bestie’s birthday party, and I got so drunk.  Drunk  isn’t the right word. A more appropriate word is wrecked. I didn’t mean for it to happen, but I had a very active day and then didn’t eat very much.  Mix that with three glasses of really strong sangria and you have me ending the night on the bathroom floor. It was still fun though.  This is my favorite pic from the night.
  4. We spend a lot of time making out in bars.  It’s our thing.
  5. Jackson and I have spent the day playing video games: Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Super Mario Bros, and Tetris.
  6. Two years ago today was a very bad day, and I was worried that Mother’s Day would be forever tainted.  I’m happy to report that today has been a fucking delight, even with the hangover from hell.
  7. I just have to say that I love this kid so much and I’m so happy to be his mom.  He’s the sweetest, smartest, funniest, and best boy ever.

Happy Mother’s Day!

• Happy Mother’s Day to the moms. Jax and I are having a nice day together. I needed this.

• I just saw a man and woman get arrested right behind my apartment. I don’t know what’s up with that.

• I start rads tomorrow.

• Because I want to remember: Dave cooked me dinner Friday night and we went to drinks at our favorite place (Itap Chesterfield) to celebrate being cancer free. I could only have two drinks because of methotrexate.

• Methotrexate isn’t working so far. I’m experiencing another flare and it’s bad. Lots of pain and swelling along with ridiculous fatigue.

• On this day last year, my ex and I split. It was the start of a very bad period of time and an unfortunate series of events. It’s hard not to think about it.

Mom’s morning at Jackson’s school was great. I’m so thankful to be here to experience it.
