I went to the spa this morning for my chemical peel. I received a medium strength glycolic acid peel that was safe to be administered without the assistance of a dermatologist. She prepped my face, applied the acid, and left it for a little over ten minutes. I tolerated it well. It stung a bit, but nothing too terrible. Then she applied a dark spot treatment mask. Afterwards, she moisturized the skin and applied a very protective sunscreen.
For the next 48 hours, I can’t wear any make-up. Just moisturizers and sunscreen. I bought the spa’s brand of sunscreen, which contains 10% zinc oxide and yet glides on like a dream with no white residue and a dewy finish. I think I’m in love. Holy grail sunblock alert! I’m all about the sunscreen, and hats, and generally just avoiding the sun at all costs.
She said my face would start to feel tight, and it definitely does. She told me to expect my face to peel over the next few days, kind of like having a bad sunburn. So far, I have no redness. My esthetician said she was impressed by how well my skin handled it.
I’m excited to see the results! I’m doing a second peel in 6 weeks and I’m thinking I may do the next step up, which has a higher concentration of acid and throws retinol into the mix as well.
I’m getting addicted to the spa. I needed a new addiction, though. Clothes shopping has gotten boring. I have shit hanging in the closet that still has tags. I’m thinking of doing a challenge in August where I can’t re-wear an outfit for the entire month. It’s time to wear these damn clothes!
With the exception of some nonsense drama with the ex that I don’t really want to get into right now, today was a nice day.
Jackson stayed home with me for the second day in a row. I woke up early to get my workout done before the bestie came over. I did the Lower Fix today and holy fuck my legs are jelly.
Bestie came over and we chatted for a couple of hours. We played with LipSense. Checked out the new Thirty One stuff for fall (she sells it). We had our Shakeology (haha – never a dull moment!).
We grabbed the kiddo and went to lunch at Red Robin where they feasted upon absolutely amazing looking burgers and I ate a pile of barely moist lettuce with some grilled chicken on top. (Seriously where the fuck is my medal?) If the scale doesn’t show a loss soon I am going to lose my fucking mind.
We came back to RiekAlt Manor where we got Annie ordained with the Universal Life Church. Once she gets her credentials (ha!) in the mail she will be all set to marry us in October. Woot!
I tried on my wedding dress for her and we picked out accessories. I have an art deco style headpiece that she agrees looks amazing with the dress. We’ve decided upon jewelry and the need for sapphire blue heels. Squee.
We dropped the kiddo off with his dad (in the midst of the previously mentioned drama…ugh). Returned to the house where we chatted more. I bought more LipSense stuff…oops. But they had bougainvillea and silver glitter glosses!
She left shortly after D got home from work around 7-ish. We had a nice, healthy dinner, and then we went on a run/walk – I think like 3 1/2 miles. I’m fucking owning Operation Fit As Fuck!
And now it is time for debauchery and so I must depart.
- Drinks with friends at the Chase Club.
- Dinner at The Tavern.
- Dessert at Bissingers.
- Back to the room sort of early for sex and sleep. It was a long, brutal week.
I saw a wedding party getting their pics taken when I was checking into the hotel, and it made me feel very excited about my own wedding. I got a little teary eyed even. This is the hotel we will be staying at on our wedding weekend so I’ve been scoping out fun places for pics. It was also fun to have drinks at the Chase Club and know that in five months we will be hosting our after party there. The reception may end at 11, but the fun doesn’t have to…haha.
- The weather was beautiful today. I went for a four mile run/walk in the park. I want it to stay this way forever.
- The Parenthood marathon is ongoing. I’m almost done with season 1. Oh the tears.
- I took a break from Netflix to go visit with Danielle. We watched Insidious 2. It was creepy. Watching horror with her is hilarious. She hides under the blankets and whimpers. I don’t know why she tortures herself in this way.
- I’m working on a budget. I hate it, but it’s necessary.
- I’m also figuring out an exercise schedule.
- I’m not sure how I feel about TWD finale. I thought the last line was totally lame.
- I have one day of vacation left. I’ve really enjoyed my time off. I needed this break.
